But his journey is personal. At just 18, Jose was arrested for marijuana possession—a moment that shaped his mission. Growing up in a community hit hard by the War on Drugs, he witnessed the deep, lasting harm it caused. When Connecticut pledged to prioritize equity in its cannabis industry, Jose saw a chance to drive real change. As an SEJV partner with Higher Collective, Jose is focused on creating opportunities for those most impacted by the past injustices of cannabis prohibition.
